Spring arrived in Lancashire yesterday and the critters started appearing so here are some pictures for Roda’s Critter Connection. A ladybird, then a hoverfly and a honeybee which I was delighted to see. The yellow flower is Gagea fibrosa.

I was amazed to see it running about π
It looks a bit dusty and cobwebby so probably just emerged from hibernation?

Awwh! In search of a good cuppa tea I bet! “Where are me slippers? George, have you seen my glasses? I left them on the night stand back in November!”

Beautiful pictures … whilst husband and I were away this weekend, we began talking about how, when weβre out of military accommodation we shall create our own wonderful home and most importantly a garden. I just canβt wait, and your pictures really inspire me. I love looking at them … And the thought of spring, well it seems to be a little far off for us up here for now. I await it with the patience of a gnat!

Brilliant! In my case it would be stumbling around until someone gave me lots of coffee!

Thank you Katie. I don’t know how you cope with temporary homes like that. Especially given your depression it must be hard to uproot once you have started to find places you feel comfortable etc.

Thank you. Today has been quite a contrast. Dark with torrential rain all day. As I have a swimming lesson later I am going to get wet anyway so why worry?

Yes, Iβm a bit wobbly at the moment, so am pulling out all the stops to keep myself really focussed. Itβs just so lovely to see your pictures. It reminds me of my old garden and how much pleasure it gave me, so keep posting your lovely pics!! Youβre making me nostalgically happy π

Will do! I took loads of flower pics yesterday too which may appear later in the week. I would be wobbly after the waxing tooππ.
Seriously I hope you are ok. Give me a shout if I can help.

A honeybee!!! Such a welcome sight all things considered. And a proper ladybug, too. Now we just get the Asian orange ones with 19 spots. I miss the red ones.

Thank you so much … donβt mean to sound ditsy and fluffy, but your pictures and constancy and steadiness make me feel very peaceful and I like that, so thank you.

That is really nice and I am so pleased. I sometimes feel not so much ditsy and fluffy but like I am being too openly emotional. But after years of feeling dead inside it is wonderful to feel so alive again so if I tend to overshare then so be it. I do understand.

Lesson over and it was wonderful. And the rain has stopped too.πππ

What a shame. The introduced harlequin ladybird is our worry because it eats other ladybirds as well as aphids apparently.

And to think they were introduced…on purpose!

Yikes! You’ve already got ladybirds? We’ve got frogs… and spawn – lots of it. Which presumably will mean another frost so they have to start all over again.

Beauties. I see them all now, very busy buzzing π

Very nice pictures, Darren. Seeing these bring good vibes and hope that soon I will see signs of Spring here as well… Just need to be a little more patient as it will come in Quebec probably only in a month! Thanks for sharing.

Bees are great but the ladybug is my favorite! π

I have always loved them too. Did you have Ladybird childrens books in the US? I always associate the bugs with my learning to read and loving every minute of it.

I donβt remember that series, we may have had them. I think my affections were simply that they were one of the few bugs that didnβt bite me! Did you see the movie βa bugs lifeβ? The ladybug was hilarious π

I did yes! Your comment reminded me of the hot dry summer of 1976 when ladybirds started biting people because they were so desperate for moisture and were attracted to sweaty bodies.

Looks like parts of England might get snow again this weekend but it is sunny todayπ

Enjoy your day! Will your weekend’s plan stand despite of the snow?

Looks like we might escape the snow here but the show in the south on the same day might not be so lucky. Going to be cold but dry here so should be ok. Am being decadent and having a quiet coffee in the city before heading to workππ
